Be A Great Dad! First Father Focus Paternal Health Care & Education Conference

New, Expectant, and Future Dads Welcome to Attend Conference

MIAMI - Dec. 21, 2016 - TelAve -- The First Paternal Health Care & Education Conference will be presented by the Fatherhood Task Force of South Florida and Albizu University on January 14, 2017 at Albizu University in Miami, FL. The Conference brings together new, expectant and future fathers and families with medical and clinical professionals, local leaders, and community partners. Attendance free of charge. Through participatory sessions, men will gain insightful information on health, effective parenting and receive free health screenings by Doral Pro Health.

Highlighting the importance of fathers' health, parenting knowledge, skills and involvement in planning, preparing and adapting to fatherhood, this groundbreaking Conference will focus on men's health, well-being and how their preparation for parenthood affects pregnancy, birth outcomes and their growing child's well-being.

This initiative supports the Miami-Dade County Community Health Improvement Plan and is supported by the Florida Department of Health, Miami-Dade County, the Health Council of South Florida, Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade County, The Children's Movement, United Way, MDCPS Parent Academy and The Children's Trust and other local partners.
"This Conference encourages legislation that addresses and provides appropriations for paternal health care screenings and follow-up which will close the gap in services for new and expectant dads," stated Holly Zwerling, CEO and President of the Fatherhood Task Force and the lead organizer along with Dr. Etiony Aldarondo, Provost of Albizu University, Miami Campus. "Statistics have shown that involved and engaged Fathers can greatly enhance their children's overall physical, social, and academic development," Zwerling added.

Expectant father and fitness expert, Malcolm Solomon, said, "I am looking forward to attending the Conference because I believe my health is important in preparing to become a new Father and to be a positive role model for my child."

The Conference takes place on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm at Albizu University, Miami Campus, 2173 NW 99th Avenue, Miami, FL 33172. RSVP to Holly Zwerling, President & CEO, Fatherhood Task Force of South Florida, Holly@Fatherhoodtfsf.org - 305.812.4000.
