Fantasy Author William Timothy Murray slated to attend Indie Author Day

ATHENS, Ga. - March 13, 2018 - TelAve -- William Timothy Murray, author of the epic fantasy, The Year of the Red Door, will be among roughly two-dozen authors who will gather in Athens, Georgia (USA) on March 17, 2018. They will be on hand to discuss and answer questions about various issues and how-to's with other authors, with readers, and with prospective authors.  Murray, who has published his works under his private publishing imprint (Penflight Books), will be on hand to take part in a panel discussion about what it takes to be a successful Indie Author.

"There is a tremendous shift taking place in the publishing industry," says Murray.  "The good-ol'-days of self-publishing are over. We have now entered a phase where there exists a very sophisticated and rapidly maturing marketplace for Independent Authors and for independent or small publishers.  Navigating all that can be daunting.  I hope this Indie Author Day will be a chance for some of us to share what we've learned with other authors who are just starting out."

The event begins at 12 noon Eastern, at the Athens-Clarke Library (Athens, GA, USA), beginning with a panel discussion.  At 1pm, Bob Babcock (of Deeds Publishing) will led a discussion about social media marketing for authors.   Following that, there will be a two-hour "meet and mingle" marketplace where books will be sold and authors will be on hand to chat one-on-one with event attendees. There will be a reception at 4pm.

"Events such as this one are becoming more important in the evolving world of 21st Century literature," Murray adds. "Some events focus on writing and authorship, others focus on readers.  This one is about the nuts and bolts of getting serious with publishing, self-publishing, and being an Indie Author.  Not everyone has what it takes to be successful.  It's a tough row to hoe.But if you are determined, patient, nimble, and well-informed, you can make it.  And this is the kind of event that can help equip you for it.  And if you're stuck on some troublesome question, this is your chance to ask some face-to-face questions about it and to make connections with local experts."
