CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, along with the Mayor's Office of Community Safety (MOCS) and the Mayor's Office of Health and Human Services (MOHHS), is hosting a hiring and resource event called Work, Wellness and a Safer Chicago: A People's Plan Hiring and Resource Event at Malcolm X College. By connecting residents to the resources they need to succeed, the city is investing in safer neighborhoods today and a stronger Chicago for future generations. The administration's efforts to expand opportunities for economic mobility are reflected in this hiring fair, which will connect job seekers with hundreds of job openings.
The event is made possible through collaboration with City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), Chi Cook Workforce Partnership, Illinois Department of Employment Security, and SERCO. In addition to facilitating conversations between employers and potential applicants, the hiring fair will also offer on-site interviews, career coaching, resume support, financial education, free professional headshots, job search guidance, and information on upcoming career events.

This event is part of the People's Plan for Community Safety under the Economic Opportunity and Upward Mobility pillar. It aims to provide equitable access to employment while strengthening local talent pipelines for employers. Deputy Mayor for Health & Human Services Jonah Anderson believes that every Chicagoan deserves the opportunity to access meaningful work and build a path towards economic mobility. Through partnerships like these, the city is creating stronger connections between residents, employers, and resources that help people succeed.
Deputy Mayor of Community Safety Emmanuel Andre emphasizes that opening doors to stable employment is one of the most powerful ways to create lasting change in communities. The Mayor's Office of Community Safety will continue partnering with individuals and organizations to invest in work readiness programs and access to employment.
The initiative also focuses on connecting public safety with economic opportunity and upward mobility. Trenity Dobbey, Director of Workforce Development for the Mayor's Office of Health & Human Services, believes that collaboration between employers, workforce organizations, and community partners is crucial in expanding access to family-sustaining careers. The goal is to ensure that every Chicagoan has a fair opportunity to work, grow, and thrive.
