City of Naperville Announces New Director of Public Works

NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - The City of Naperville has announced the appointment of Daniel Randolph as their new Director of Public Works. After a rigorous selection process, Randolph was chosen from a highly qualified pool of candidates.
With over 20 years of experience in civil engineering and public works management, Randolph brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. He most recently served as the Assistant Director of Engineering and Public Works for the Village of Schaumburg, where he played a key role in developing the department's strategic plan and managing a $45 million operating budget. He also oversaw several major capital improvement projects, including the construction of Schaumburg Village Hall. Under his leadership, Schaumburg's public works department received prestigious awards from the American Public Works Association (APWA) for asset management and excellence in snow and ice control.
Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger expressed his excitement about Randolph joining the team, stating, "We are thrilled to have Dan as our new Public Works Director. His extensive experience in public works and engineering, along with his strong commitment to public service, make him an excellent fit for this important role."

Randolph's career began as a Geotechnical Engineer for an engineering firm before transitioning to the public sector in 2004. He has held positions such as Civil Engineer II for the Village of Niles and Assistant Engineer for the Village of Mount Prospect, where he worked on various infrastructure improvement projects. In addition to his professional experience, Randolph is also actively involved with APWA as a member of their Asset Management Committee and will serve as chair from 2025-2026.
He holds a Master of Public Administration, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois.
"I am honored to join the City of Naperville as its new Director of Public Works," said Randolph. "Naperville has an outstanding reputation for customer service, and I am eager to work alongside the talented team of leaders and front-line workers. Together, we will continue to enhance the quality of life for the city."
Randolph's first day with the City is scheduled for December 1st. Residents can sign up to receive updates on Naperville's projects and initiatives via email at www.naperville.il.us/enews. They can also register for Naper Notify, the City's notification system that provides important emergency and community information through phone calls, text messages, emails, and a smartphone app at www.napernotify.com.
