November 10, 2025 ~ Houston Mayor John Whitmire is inviting the public to join in honoring the brave men and women who have fought and sacrificed for our liberty and freedom. The City of Houston will be hosting its annual Veterans Day Parade and Program on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The city takes great pride in paying tribute to our military personnel by organizing the "Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration." This year's event will feature Sgt. Major Angela Maness, a retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran, as the keynote speaker.
Sgt. Major Maness has an impressive 30-year career as an active-duty Marine. She has served in various roles such as Administrator, Drill Instructor, Range Coach, and has trained candidates at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA. She has also been deployed multiple times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Her dedication and service have earned her numerous honors including the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

The traditional Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday with acknowledgments and a keynote address from Sgt. Major Maness. At 11 a.m., there will be a Moment of Silence to commemorate the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.
Following the ceremony, the American Heroes Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., starting at Dallas and Bagby streets. The parade route will proceed east on Dallas, north on Louisiana, west on Walker, south on Smith, and then west on Lamar before ending at Lamar and Bagby.
The parade will feature local veteran organizations, ROTC groups, bands, and supporters marching to show their respect and honor for our veterans. The parade is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to join along the route.
It is worth noting that Texas has the largest veteran population in the nation, with over 250,000 veterans residing in the state. This makes it even more significant for the City of Houston to host such a meaningful event to honor and recognize our veterans.
Mayor Whitmire and the City of Houston are proud to provide this opportunity for the community to come together and show their appreciation for those who have served our country. The Veterans Day Parade and Program is a chance for all of us to express our gratitude and pay tribute to these American heroes.
