Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The annual Youth Fishing Derby is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 at El Dorado East Regional Park. The event, organized by the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) in partnership with The Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation and California Department of Fish and Wildlife, aims to provide a fun and educational experience for youth ages 17 and under.
According to Mayor Rex Richardson, the Youth Fishing Derby is a great opportunity for young people to spend time outdoors, learn the sport of fishing, and gain new skills that can boost their confidence. He also emphasized the importance of families spending quality time together and creating lasting memories. The support from partners such as The Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation and California Department of Fish and Wildlife has made this event possible.
For over two decades, the Youth Fishing Derby has been a unique learning experience for youth to enjoy outdoor recreation while receiving expert fishing tips. Participants also have the chance to win prizes such as fishing gear and gift cards.
