~ Tacoma, WA- On December 6, 2025, At-Large City Council Member Olgy Diaz will be hosting an in-person event titled "Bridging the Gap: Local Solutions in the Federal Landscape" at the Tacoma Little Theatre. The event will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. and aims to address the impact of national issues on the local community.

According to Council Member Diaz, recent events such as the federal government shutdown and harsh immigration enforcement have had a significant impact on Tacoma residents. The event will serve as a platform for community members to engage in a conversation with local leaders and organizers about potential solutions at the local level.

The event will feature several speakers, including Emergency Food Network CEO Michelle Douglas, Tacoma Housing Authority Executive Director April Black, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department Director Chantell Harmon Reed, and Tacoma School Board Member Lisa Keating. These leaders will share their insights on how to navigate an uncertain federal landscape and take action within the community.
