~ Governor Greg Abbott has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of Texas residents as severe storms are expected to hit Southeast and East Texas starting tomorrow. In a statement released today, Governor Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to activate state emergency response resources in preparation for the potential impact of these storms.
"Texas is prepared to swiftly respond to severe storms expected across the southeastern and eastern portion of the state," said Governor Abbott. He urged Texans to stay informed and follow guidance from state and local officials as the situation unfolds.
According to the National Weather Service, a strong storm system accompanied by a cold front is forecasted to move across East and Southeast Texas tomorrow, bringing with it heavy rainfall that may result in flash flooding. The storm also poses risks of damaging winds, large hail, and possible tornadoes. The threat is expected to persist through the holiday weekend.
