Texas: Governor Abbott Announces SBA Assistance For Texans Impacted By Apartment Complex Fire
TelAve News/10875682
~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott revealed that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved his request for a disaster declaration for Texans affected by an August apartment complex fire in the Spring Branch neighborhood. This declaration will provide much-needed resources for those impacted by the fire to aid in their recovery.
Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude for the approval, stating, "Texans affected by the Spring Branch neighborhood apartment complex fire will now have access to additional resources needed to recover." He also acknowledged the efforts of the Texas Division of Emergency Management and federal partners in helping this community move forward.
The SBA has granted access to its Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. These low-interest loans will be available to qualifying Texans who sustained damage during the fire. Interested applicants can apply online at sba.gov/disaster or contact the SBA's Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 for more information.

For those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, telecommunications relay services can be accessed by dialing 7-1-1. Completed applications can also be mailed to the U.S. Small Business Administration's Processing and Disbursement Center in Fort Worth.
To further assist with the application process and address any questions about the disaster loan programs, SBA representatives will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center at 1625 Blalock Road in Houston starting Thursday, September 18 at 12:00 PM. The center will be open on weekdays from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Governor Abbott had requested this SBA declaration on September 9 after an analysis of damage sustained in impacted communities confirmed that it met the federally-required thresholds for SBA assistance. This declaration will provide much-needed support for those affected by the fire as they work to rebuild their homes and businesses.
