Texas: Governor Abbott Hands Out Strait To The Heart Funds To Leander Area Flood Victims
TelAve News/10875849
~ Leander, Texas- Governor Greg Abbott made a special appearance today to present checks to families in the greater Leander area who were affected by the devastating floods that occurred on July 4th. The event, hosted by the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund, marks the third time Governor Abbott has attended to distribute financial assistance to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed.
The funds being distributed were raised through the "Strait to the Heart" benefit concert held earlier this summer. The concert, organized by country music legend George Strait and Estancia Estates Founder Tom Cusick, raised over $6 million for flood-impacted Texans.
During the check presentation, Governor Abbott expressed his sympathy for those who have been facing extraordinary challenges due to the floods. He stated, "We want to be able to be a part of the process, not just now but in an ongoing way, to help you respond to those challenges." He also emphasized that the financial assistance being provided will aid in the rebuilding process and hopes it will make a meaningful impact for those affected.

Joining Governor Abbott at the event was Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd. Together, they handed out checks and offered words of support and encouragement to those in attendance.
Last month, Governor Abbott visited Leander to announce the re-opening of Cow Creek bridge which was destroyed during the floods. This latest visit shows his continued commitment towards helping those impacted by this natural disaster.
Additional photos from today's event will be made available for viewing. The governor's presence and support serve as a reminder that Texans stand together in times of crisis and are willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
