Update: Columbia Police arrest suspect in November shooting on North Providence Road

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred on North Providence Road last month. Marlon McCraney, 51, of Columbia was taken into custody on Dec. 20 and is facing charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The incident took place on Nov. 12 at approximately 3:40 p.m., when officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of North Providence Road. Upon arrival, they found a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from her injuries.

The Columbia Police Department has stated that this is an ongoing investigation and is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They can contact the department at 573.874.7652 or provide information anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 573.875.8477.

In their previous press release, the department had announced a cash reward of up to $2,500 for any information leading to an arrest in this case (Case Number 2024-009967). The public is reminded that they can provide information without leaving their name or number through CrimeStoppers.
