ATLANTA - TelAve -- The African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) is celebrating the successful completion of its inaugural Building the Future Workforce Summit and announcing the next evolution of the event: Workforce Summit X, set for May 6, 2027, in Atlanta.

Held September 17, 2026, at Stone Ridge Event Center in Stone Mountain, Georgia, the inaugural Summit brought together voices from workforce development, education, trucking, logistics, supply chain, technology, compliance, entrepreneurship and community organizations for conversations focused on opportunity, industry needs and stronger workforce connections.

The event generated 90 ticket registrations and 56 RSVPs, featured 13 exhibitor booths and was supported by 10 volunteers. Community and partner support extended beyond participation: approximately 80% of the event's food and refreshments were donated.

"We are incredibly grateful for the turnout and for every person and organization that helped make our inaugural Workforce Summit a success," said Nicole Ward, Founder and President of AAWTA. "2026 showed us the power of bringing education, workforce, industry, and community together to start important conversations and create meaningful connections. Now, we're ready to take those conversations further. Summit X 2027 will build on that foundation with bigger ideas, deeper conversations, stronger connections, and an even greater focus on solutions."

A key development connected to the Summit was AAWTA's collaboration with Western Governors University (WGU). WGU serves as an Official Education Partner and AAWTA's Official "Behind the Desk" Education Partner, supporting AAWTA's broader workforce-development strategy of connecting employers, education, workforce organizations and industry with career-focused learning and opportunity.

AAWTA is continuing to connect with organizations that have workforce needs and are interested in partnership, collaboration and the development of career pathways.

Workforce Summit X will expand the format in 2027 with four panels and four breakout rooms, creating greater emphasis on conversations, solutions and connections. Tickets are now on sale for $15.
