ATLANTA - TelAve -- The African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) is expanding its workforce-development mission through the Driven Together Education Program and a new collaboration with Western Governors University (WGU), AAWTA's first and exclusive Behind-the-Desk Education Partner.

Announced Sept. 17, 2026, during AAWTA's inaugural Building the Future Workforce Summit in Stone Mountain, Georgia, the collaboration strengthens resources available to AAWTA's more than 7,000 members nationwide.

Driven Together is a technology-supported initiative designed to help participants identify career pathways and connect with education, professional development and workforce opportunities. Through the program, WGU provides career-focused certificate pathways that support the business, leadership, operations, entrepreneurship and supply-chain sides of transportation and other industries.

Featured WGU pathways include Supply Chain Fundamentals, Business Leadership, Entrepreneurship Fundamentals and Project Management certificates. WGU's self-directed, competency-based model complements AAWTA's goal of helping individuals move from career interest to practical opportunities for advancement.

The initiative has been supported by Engineer James Olalekan, who assisted with platform technology and automation; AAWTA Director of Outreach Lilian Mwebia and Community Engagement Committee Director Amoni Witcher, who supported outreach, engagement and implementation; and AAWTA Founder and President Nicole Ward, who directed the program's vision, workflow, development and strategic partnerships.

Participants can explore available pathways and begin the intake process through the AAWTA Driven Together Education Program portal.
