Africa 6000 International raises awareness for solutions to Africa's water crisis at March 21 event
TelAve News/10891821
NAPLES, Fla. - TelAve -- Community members and business leaders gathered on March 21 at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples for Africa 6000 International's "Let's Make a Splash and a Difference," raising awareness of the global water crisis and supporting its mission to provide clean, safe water to villages throughout Africa.
In recognition of World Water Day, nearly 100 guests heard from keynote speaker Steve Doocy, co-host of "FOX & Friends," and Doug Pitt, Africa 6000 team member and Goodwill Ambassador to Tanzania. The water-themed event introduced new audiences to the organization's efforts, strengthened relationships with current supporters and continued the legacy of founder Joseph Prischak. Speakers emphasized that access to clean water allows children to attend school instead of walking miles each day to collect unsafe water. It also creates opportunity for entire villages, including construction of irrigated farms, medical clinics and schools.
Since 2007, Africa 6000 International has developed innovative, solar-powered water solutions that now serve more than 300 villages and reach more than 2 million people. Proceeds from the event directly support the construction of solar-powered water wells in Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Guinea and Nigeria that communities can sustainably access and maintain. These efforts have helped reduce the number of children dying each day from waterborne diseases from 6,000 to between 2,000 and 3,000.

"Water is where it starts. When a community has clean water, everything else becomes possible, from education and health care to opportunity and dignity," Pitt said. "Thanks to the support of individuals and corporate donors, this work continues to change lives, and every contribution becomes part of a lasting solution that gives back for generations."
