MEMPHIS, Tenn. - TelAve -- Angela Nicole Powell LMSW, CFTP  has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Ms. Powell currently works as a therapist at Turning Point Recovery Center through Addiction Campuses. She provides individual and group therapy for individuals with mental health and substance abuse addiction. Shereceived her undergraduate degree in social work at Lemoyne-Owen College and obtained her graduate degree at the University of Memphis both in Memphis Tennessee.

Her clinical experience, personal struggles with obesity and recognizing the need for specialized bariatric training was the impetus for her fellowship with AABC and she was awarded a fellowship scholarship by AABC. This post-graduate training in bariatric science has equipped her with specialized competencies that will further the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care and treatment of those suffering from obesity and related disorders.
