TelAve News/10856315
~ The Idaho Falls Police Department is gearing up to host their highly anticipated Citizen's Police Academy, set to begin on April 30, 2025. This free 9-week program aims to provide community members with a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of the Idaho Falls Police Department, as well as insight into the daily life of a police officer. The academy also aims to foster stronger relationships between the department and the community.
According to officials, Citizen's Police Academies are becoming increasingly popular across law enforcement agencies in the country. However, each agency may have its own unique approach. For IFPD, their main objectives are to educate attendees about police work and build stronger connections with the Idaho Falls community.
The classes are designed to be engaging and hands-on, offering participants a chance to experience various aspects of police work firsthand. Attendees can expect a tour of the Idaho Falls Police Complex and demonstrations in areas such as forensics and crime scene investigations, firearms training, TASER use, unmanned aerial systems (drones), K9 units, SWAT operations, bomb squad procedures, emergency vehicle operations and more.
