ASCLD Honors Jeremy Triplett with 2026 Briggs J. White Award
TelAve News/10896805
GARNER, N.C. - TelAve -- The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD) is pleased to announce that Jeremy Triplett of Frankfort, Kentucky, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Briggs J. White Award, one of the organization's highest honors recognizing excellence in forensic science leadership and management.
Triplett serves as Division Director for the Kentucky State Police Forensic Services Division, where he oversees a statewide, full-service, ISO 17025-accredited forensic laboratory system with six laboratories. In this role, he leads laboratory directors and helps guide budgeting, policy development, accreditation, standardization, and operational efficiency across the system.
A longtime ASCLD leader, Triplett served on the Board of Directors from 2013 to 2018 and as ASCLD President in 2017. He has also chaired multiple committees and has served as ASCLD Webmaster since 2014. Among his most significant contributions is the creation of the ASCLD Leadership Academy, which has trained more than 1,000 forensic professionals from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and nine countries.

Triplett's leadership extends across the forensic science community. He served as the first Chair of the OSAC Forensic Science Standards Board and currently contributes to national initiatives through the NIJ Forensic Laboratory Needs Technology Working Group, the CSAFE Strategic Advisory Board, and ANAB as a technical assessor in seized drugs.
About the Briggs J. White Award: When Dr. Briggs White became the Director of the FBI Laboratory, he recognized the need for closer cooperation with state and local crime laboratories, understanding the symbiotic value that could ensue. In 1973, he persuaded FBI Director Clarence Kelly, to invite thirty laboratory directors to a meeting at the FBI Academy in Quantico VA .
In the fall of 1974 after a great deal of debate, ASCLD was born with Dr. Briggs White as its first Chairman. ASCLD played a leading role in the improvement of forensic laboratories throughout the world, including raising the profile of forensic science in the legislative assemblies of the United States. Dr. White's pivotal role was recognized with the establishment of the Briggs White Award for Excellence through Leadership in Forensic Science Management. The award was established at the direction of past President Bill Hartner to recognize an ASCLD member, past or present, who demonstrated managerial excellence in forensic science. https://www.ascld.org/our-history/
