PHOENIX, Sept. 3, 2025 ~ Phoenix, Arizona - Attorney Dave Erlichman of Comeback Law P.C. has filed a motion on behalf of his client, Essa Williams, in the Maricopa County Superior Court case. Williams is currently awaiting trial for the shooting of Phoenix Police officer Tyler Moldovan, but claims he acted in self-defense.
The motion, filed on September 2, 2025, seeks to disqualify all "MAGA" ("Make America Great Again") supporters from serving on Williams' jury. According to the defense, President Trump's public statements about the case have created a situation where potential jurors who support the movement will likely be unable to remain unbiased.
In a statement clarifying the motion, Mr. Erlichman stated that it is not about suppressing anyone's political views but rather about safeguarding the integrity of the judicial process.
