5G RedCap built for utility field operations, with Snapdragon SDX35-3 enabling a future upgrade path to expanded Anterix 900 MHz operation

RICHARDSON, Texas - TelAve -- BEC Technologies today announced the MX-320-UT 5G RedCap Industrial Router. Purpose-built for critical infrastructure, the router helps utilities modernize field communications across public cellular networks, CBRS shared spectrum, and private Anterix 900 MHz networks, providing flexible, reliable connectivity for remote monitoring, distribution automation, and control applications.

5G Matched to Utility Field Requirements

Utility field deployments require dependable connectivity within practical power and cost constraints. 5G Reduced Capability (RedCap) is designed to reduce modem cost, complexity, and power demands compared with 5G enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) solutions. The MX-320-UT 5G brings these benefits to distributed utility assets that do not require multi-gigabit throughput.

"Utilities need to connect more field assets while managing deployment costs and planning for long equipment lifecycles," said D'Andre Ladson, Vice President of Marketing, BEC Technologies. "The MX-320-UT 5G combines efficient cellular connectivity and support for existing field equipment with a clear upgrade path as Anterix networks evolve."

A Platform for Expanded Anterix 900 MHz Operation

The MX-320-UT 5G has earned the Anterix Active designation, confirming successful validation for deployment on private LTE networks using Anterix's 900 MHz spectrum.

Built on Qualcomm's Snapdragon SDX35-3 IoT modem platform, the router also provides a future upgrade path to Anterix's expanded 10 MHz broadband configuration, comprising paired 5 MHz uplink and downlink channels. This gives utilities a foundation for wider-channel operation as their private networks evolve.

Dual Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 serial connectivity, and digital I/O connect existing controllers and IP-based equipment in one compact industrial router. BECentral®, BEC's device management platform, provides centralized provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting, extending network visibility and remote device control across distributed sites.
