Boston: February is Black History Month
TelAve News/10887374
~ As Black History Month begins, the city of Boston is once again taking time to honor the resilience and ongoing struggles of Black Americans and local residents. This month serves as a reminder to reflect on the historical injustices, present-day disparities, and hopes for the future of the African American community.
The importance of sharing the stories, struggles, and achievements of African Americans cannot be overstated. It is essential to continue learning about their lived experiences and supporting their businesses in order to build compassion for self and others. The Black Physicians and Healthcare Network highlights various ways to engage with Black history, including reading books and articles, attending community events, and supporting local businesses.
The Mayor's Office of Equity and Inclusion has compiled a comprehensive list of events and resources celebrating Black History Month in 2026. This includes city events, art displays, educational opportunities, and more. The Boston Public Library also updates its list each year with in-person and virtual events that celebrate Black history. They also curate a book list called "Black is..." featuring over 75 books that encompass the Black experience for both adults and children.
