This means that residents who have parked their cars in participating discounted garages must remove them by 10 p.m. to avoid being charged regular rates. In addition, Mayor Wu has reminded residents that space savers must be removed by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, which is 48 hours after the end of the snow emergency. The use of space savers is strictly prohibited in the South End and Bay Village at all times. Any space savers found violating these rules may be collected and discarded by the Public Works Department (PWD).

The decision to lift the snow emergency and parking ban comes after Boston received a total of 19 inches of snow in the last 24 hours, with more expected overnight and frigid temperatures continuing throughout the week. As a result, Boston Public Schools will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27. This additional day off will allow city crews to properly clear sidewalks and widen roadways for safe travel for children and the 700 bus fleet.

While schools will remain closed tomorrow, Boston City Hall, Boston Centers for Youth and Families, Boston Public Library branches, and all other municipal buildings will reopen.

She also emphasized the importance of property owners clearing their sidewalks thoroughly so that neighbors can safely navigate the streets during this ongoing cold spell.

Trash and recycling collections will continue on a Monday holiday schedule with some neighborhoods experiencing a one-day delay in service.
