BARNSLEY, U.K. - TelAve -- GRIMETHORPE, BARNSLEY — Families looking for something fun to do this weekend have a new answer, as FaithFest 2026 brings four hours of completely free music, sport and family entertainment to Grimethorpe on Saturday 5 September.

Taking place from 1pm to 5pm at Love Life Sports Ground, Brierley Road, FaithFest will feature live music, a five-a-side football tournament, inflatables, games, food and refreshments, a guest speaker and activities for young people and families.

And when organisers say free, they really do mean free.

There is no admission charge, no ticket, no wristband, no advance booking and nothing to pay at the gate. Families can simply turn up, stay for as long as they like and enjoy the afternoon.

FaithFest is organised by One Youth Barnsley, a collective of churches from across Barnsley working together to create positive opportunities for young people, build friendships and strengthen the local community.

Josie Powell from One Youth Barnsley said:

"The question we keep getting is what the catch is. There isn't one. We wanted to create an afternoon where young people and families can simply turn up, feel welcome and have a brilliant time together.

"There will be football, live music, inflatables, games, food and plenty happening throughout the afternoon — and because it's free, parents hopefully won't spend four hours hearing 'Can I have another tenner?' every seven minutes!"

Alongside the entertainment, FaithFest has a clear community purpose. One Youth Barnsley wants to create welcoming spaces where young people can make friends, grow in confidence, explore Christian faith and discover a sense of purpose.

The message behind the festival is:

"Everyone Belongs. All Nations Welcome."

Powell added:

"You don't have to attend one of our churches. You don't need a ticket and you don't need to book. Whatever your background, wherever you're from, just come along and join us. Everyone is welcome."

Whether visitors come for the football, music, food, inflatables — or simply to watch their children go down the same slide forty times — FaithFest promises a relaxed afternoon of fun, laughter and community.
