California: Governor, First Partner statement on the passing of Robert Redford

~ Sacramento, California - On September 16, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom released a statement mourning the passing of renowned actor and California Hall of Famer, Robert Redford.
The statement described Redford as one of the foremost actors of his generation and a champion of modern cinema and independent film. He was also praised for being a deeply good man who understood the complexities of life and found beauty in the small details.

On September 15th, it was announced that California-based productions dominated at the 77th Annual Emmy Awards. These productions included some that received Film and TV Tax Credits from the state. In total, they won 21 Emmy awards at the ceremony.
This success further solidifies California's position as a leader in television production. With its diverse landscapes and talented workforce, it continues to be a top destination for filmmakers.
