City Asks for Feedback on Design Concepts for Spokane Falls Boulevard

TelAve News/10899196
~ Spokane Falls Boulevard, a prominent downtown corridor, is set to undergo reconstruction in the near future. As the City of Spokane plans for this project, community input is being sought to help fine-tune concepts that will balance safety, mobility, access, and economic vitality.

According to Kirstin Davis, Communications Manager for the City of Spokane, the boulevard serves as a crucial link between businesses, hospitality and entertainment venues, and regional transportation routes. It also acts as the gateway to Riverfront Park and hosts numerous community events throughout the year.

To gather feedback from residents and stakeholders, the City has developed five potential design concepts for the corridor. These concepts were created based on previous outreach efforts and aim to address priorities identified by community members such as improving pedestrian safety and access, enhancing the appearance of the corridor, supporting downtown activity, and creating a more connected transportation network.

The City has presented these concepts in a five-minute video format and is encouraging community members to watch it and provide feedback through an online survey. The survey will explore each concept in detail along with their associated benefits and tradeoffs. This feedback will be used alongside technical analysis to guide future design decisions.

It is important for community members to weigh in on this project as no preferred designs have been selected at this time. The City has provided multiple ways for individuals to participate including watching the video on their website or visiting Spokane Public Library branches or City Hall for project information and survey links.

The online survey will be open until Wednesday, July 15th. The City hopes that by gathering input from residents and stakeholders they can create a downtown corridor that meets the needs of all those who utilize it.
