City of Bloomington Announces Temporary Through-Traffic Closure on Rogers Street Between 2nd and 3rd
TelAve News/10898405
~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington has announced a temporary closure of Rogers Street between 2nd Street and 3rd Street from Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 26. This closure is part of the ongoing Patterson/Grimes/Rogers resurfacing project. Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained, but through traffic will need to follow posted signage.
The closure was requested by the city's contractor in order to complete critical work on Rogers Street before the nearby Bloomington Convention Center expansion begins. City Engineering has reviewed and supports this request.
It is important to note that this closure is separate from the previous closure on Rogers Street near Switchyard Park. That section is scheduled to reopen today, June 10, with a new raised pedestrian crossing. Drivers are advised to slow down and adjust to the new crossing, which has been designed to improve pedestrian safety near the park.

However, the upcoming Bloomington Convention Center expansion work will require a temporary closure of South College Avenue between 3rd Street and Smith Avenue beginning on June 30. As Rogers Street will serve as a key detour route during this closure, completing the critical work beforehand will support more reliable traffic flow in the area. Access to Convention Center parking will still be available from Madison Street, Smith Avenue, and South College Avenue.
Residents, businesses, and visitors should plan for detours, delays, and changing traffic patterns in the area during these closures. Drivers are urged to slow down, follow posted signage, and use caution when traveling near construction zones.
The City will continue to provide updates as needed regarding these closures.
