City of Long Beach Facilities and Services Schedule for Memorial Day Holiday

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, May 25, 2026, the City of Long Beach has announced its plans for facility and service schedules in observance of the holiday. The city has released a list of facilities and services that will be open and closed on this day.
For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, all city parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center) will be open for public use. Additionally, El Dorado East Regional Park will also be open for visitors. Fire stations and lifeguard stations will remain operational for any emergencies that may arise.
Travelers can rest assured that Long Beach Airport will remain open on Memorial Day. However, it is advised to check with individual airlines for any changes to flight schedules.
In case of any animal-related emergencies, Long Beach Animal Care Services will have a 24/7 emergency services field after-hours line available at (562) 570-7387. The main police station front desk will also be open for any inquiries or assistance needed.

Marina offices at Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina will be open for business as usual. Gas services dispatch at (562) 570-2140 and water/sewer dispatch at (562) 570-2390 will also remain operational for emergency calls.
On the other hand, several city facilities and services will be closed on Memorial Day. These include the Billie Jean King Main Library and all branch libraries, including library offices. However, digital resources are available 24/7 for library patrons to access.
The BizCare Hotline at (562) 570-4BIZ will not be available on Memorial Day. Building and Safety services such as permit center operations, inspections, and plan reviews will also be closed.
City Hall offices and public services will also be closed on Monday, May 25. This includes commercial services typically available at City Hall such as the Permit Center, Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations. The public is encouraged to utilize online resources for building permit services and bill payments.

Street sweeping will not be conducted on Memorial Day and there will be no enforcement of street sweeping violations. However, parking violations, including parking meters, will still be enforced unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays."
Refuse and recycling services will continue as scheduled on Monday, May 25 (except for oversized items and special collections pick-ups conducted by the Clean Team). The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility will be closed on Memorial Day but will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.
All Long Beach Public Library locations and services, including the main phone line, will also be closed on Saturday, May 23 and Monday, May 25. However, library patrons can access a wide range of digital resources available 24/7.
