TelAve News/10853749
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach residents can expect to receive updates on the progress of the Colorado Lagoon Open Channel Project at a community meeting hosted by the Long Beach Department of Public Works. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. and will take place at the Recreation Park Community Center located at 4900 E. 7th St.
The project, which aims to revitalize the 18-acre saltwater tidal lagoon, is currently in its final phase of a comprehensive restoration plan. This includes reestablishing a natural connection between the lagoon and Marine Stadium to improve tidal exchange and water quality. Additionally, new tidal wetlands will be created and improvements will be made to enhance the lagoon's ecological health while preserving recreational opportunities for the community.
During the meeting, attendees can expect to receive updates on the project's overall status, completed construction, and remaining work as it nears completion. There will also be an opportunity for questions at the end of the presentation. To ensure accessibility for all members of the community, interpretation services will be provided in Spanish, Khmer, and Tagalog.
