CJ 4DPLEX and Regal Open The World's Largest 4DX Auditorium in Times Square

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 29, 2024 ~ New York City - CJ 4DPLEX, the leading producer of premium film formats and cinema technologies, has teamed up with Regal to open the largest 4DX auditorium in the world at Regal Times Square. This groundbreaking theater, located in the heart of New York City, offers moviegoers an unparalleled immersive experience with its cutting-edge technology and over 21 unique motion and environmental effects.

The new 4DX auditorium boasts a record-breaking 296 seats, more than double the average amount in a standard 4DX theater. This expansion was made possible through a collaboration between CJ 4DPLEX and Regal, who saw an opportunity to combine a premium large screen and immersive audio with 4DX's state-of-the-art technology.

In addition to the increased seating capacity, the theater features a 60ft wide screen, four fog machines (double the amount in a standard theater), and eight shaker amplifiers that provide extra motion for the 4DX chairs. The theater also has 30 rainstorm fans, with 14 placed directly above audience members - a first for any 4DX auditorium in the U.S.

This is not the only milestone achieved by CJ 4DPLEX and Regal. The Regal Times Square complex is now home to two 4DX theaters - another first in North America. Along with the record-breaking auditorium, there is also a second theater with 128 seats. This showcases the growing demand for premium theatrical experiences and solidifies the power of the 4DX brand.

The success of this partnership is evident as CJ 4DPLEX's format brought in close to $50 million at the box office last year in the U.S., with an average PSA (per screen average) of $937,000 across their existing 53 screens. Regal is CJ 4DPLEX's largest partner in the U.S., operating a total of 49 4DX theaters and 52 ScreenX theaters. The company also has a strong presence in Europe and Israel, with 62 4DX theaters and 29 ScreenX theaters in partnership with Cineworld and CCI.

Regal has been at the forefront of providing premium formats and experiences to moviegoers since opening their first 4DX theater in the U.S. in 2014. "As a travel destination known for its iconic theaters and around-the-clock entertainment, Regal Times Square is the perfect location for our largest 4DX auditorium in the world," said Don Savant, CEO & President of CJ 4DPLEX America.
