Colombian Journalist Maria Paula Espinosa Wins Emmy for Work on Noticiero Univision

The Colombian media professional contributed to the Emmy-winning news program while building a career across major Spanish-language networks including Telemundo and Univision.
MIAMI - TelAve -- MIAMI, Florida — Colombian journalist and producer Maria Paula Espinosa was awarded an Emmy in 2025 as part of the team behind Noticiero Univision, which received the award in the category Outstanding News Program, one of the most prestigious recognitions in broadcast journalism in the United States.
The ceremony took place on November 15 in Dallas, Texas, bringing together leading professionals from across the journalism and television production industry.
Espinosa contributed as part of Univision's national news team, working on coverage of major national events, including the 2024 United States presidential election—one of the most significant and widely followed news events in the country.

"Receiving this recognition as part of the Noticiero Univision team is a meaningful milestone in my career and a reminder of the importance of representing Latino voices in journalism," Espinosa said.
Espinosa is a graduate of the University of Florida, one of the leading public universities in the United States. In 2019, she was also selected as one of eight professionals chosen to participate in Telemundo University, a highly competitive program designed to develop emerging talent in the television industry.
She began her professional career at Telemundo 51, working in local television before being invited to join the national network of Telemundo. There, she worked across news, sports, and entertainment productions with national and international reach.
Her work includes contributions to Noticias Telemundo, coverage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023, and entertainment productions such as La Casa de los Famosos.

Espinosa also participated in Telemundo's international coverage of Mexico's 2024 presidential election, expanding her experience in major electoral processes and strengthening her profile as a journalist working on high-impact news coverage.
She later continued her professional trajectory at Univision, contributing to national news programming and editorial projects with broad audiences across the United States.
The Emmy Award received in 2025 recognizes the journalistic excellence of the Noticiero Univision team and highlights the contributions of journalists and producers working behind the scenes of major national news broadcasts.
