DENVER ~ In a move to fill a new judgeship created by Senate Bill 25-024, Governor Polis has appointed James X. Quinn to the 18th Judicial District Court. The appointment, effective July 1, 2025, was announced today by the Governor's office.

Mr. Quinn brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as a Magistrate in the 18th Judicial District since 2019. His docket primarily consists of criminal matters. Prior to this position, he held various roles in the Colorado Attorney General's Office, including Assistant Solicitor General (2016-2019), First Assistant Attorney General (2011-2019), and Senior Assistant Attorney General (1999-2011).

With over two decades of legal experience, Mr. Quinn has also worked as an attorney at several law firms, including Campbell, Bohn & Leffert, LLC and Montgomery, Little & McGrew, P.C.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Colorado in 1989 and 1992 respectively. The Governor's decision to appoint Mr. Quinn has been met with praise from legal professionals in the state who believe he will be a valuable addition to the 18th Judicial District Court.
