Colorado: Governor Polis: Congressional Republicans Causing Devastating, Negative Impact From Passing One Big Budget-Busting Bureaucracy-Building Act
TelAve News/10868069
DENVER ~ In a recent statement, Colorado Governor Jared Polis expressed his strong opposition to a bill passed by Congress that will have detrimental effects on the state and its residents. The bill, known as the One Big Budget-Busting Bureaucracy-Building Act, has been a major point of concern for Gov. Polis due to its potential to increase healthcare costs, harm children's access to food, and lead to job losses.
According to Gov. Polis, this bill will not only raise healthcare costs for everyone but also contribute to an increase in the national debt. He also highlighted the fact that it will divert funds from healthcare towards bureaucratic processes, resulting in an unprecedented expansion of government bureaucracy. The governor expressed his disappointment in all Republican members of Colorado's delegation for voting in favor of this bill despite being warned about its damaging consequences.
The bill was passed by the House with a vote of 218-214, with Congresswoman Boebert, Congressman Hurd, Congressman Evans, and Congressman Crank voting in favor and Congressman Neguse, Congressman Crow, Congresswoman DeGette, Congresswoman Pettersen, Senator Hickenlooper, and Senator Bennet voting against it.

This development comes after Gov. Polis joined forces with Senator Hickenlooper and Representatives Pettersen, DeGette, Crow, and Neguse along with community advocates from various sectors such as healthcare and clean energy to urge Republicans and Congress not to pass this harmful bill.
Gov. Polis has been consistently vocal about the negative impacts of this legislation on Colorado's residents. He has specifically opposed provisions such as cutting Medicaid funding which could result in many families losing their healthcare coverage while also increasing costs for others. Earlier this year, he sent a letter along with Lt. Governor Primavera to Colorado's Congressional Delegation urging them not to cut Medicaid funding.
Furthermore, Gov. Polis has also called for the removal of devastating cuts from the bill, along with a coalition of healthcare advocates. He has also expressed concerns about the bill's potential to threaten SNAP funding and food access for children and families, as well as its impact on Colorado's clean energy industry and the national debt.
In conclusion, Gov. Polis remains steadfast in his opposition to this bill and its harmful provisions. He urges Congress to reconsider their decision and prioritize the well-being of hardworking Coloradans and Americans over bureaucratic processes.
