Colorado: Governor Polis Signs Bills Into Law
TelAve News/10892881
DENVER ~ Denver - In a move to further promote safe gun ownership and protect Coloradans from senseless gun violence, Governor Polis signed several bills into law today. The first bill, SB26-004, was sponsored by Senators Tom Sullivan and Julie Gonzales, and Representatives Meg Froelich and Jenny Willford. This bill expands the list of petitioners who can request a protection order, building upon the success of Colorado's red flag law which has been used over 370 times since its implementation in 2024.
Governor Polis expressed his support for the new legislation, stating that it will help keep communities safe and prevent gun violence. He also signed three bipartisan bills into law today: SB26-039, which addresses disability and survivor benefits for the Fire and Police Pension Association; SB26-050, which requires child care centers to disclose certain policies; and SB26-074, which clarifies penalties for excessive public construction bond claims.
