Colorado: Governor Polis Signs Bills Into Law

DENVER ~ Denver, CO - In a move to improve the state's healthcare system and ensure accessibility for all, Governor Jared Polis signed several bills into law today.
The first bill, HB26-1002, was sponsored by Representatives Kyle Brown and Lindsay Gilchrist, and Senators Matt Ball and Byron Pelton. This bill aims to increase provider participation in health insurance plans.
Another bill signed into law was HB26-1023, which holds political parties accountable for meeting accessibility requirements. This legislation was sponsored by Representatives Stephanie Luck and Steven Woodrow, and Senators Mark Baisley and Majority Leader Robert Rodriguez.
In an effort to protect children's rights, Governor Polis also signed HB26-1024. This bill, sponsored by Representatives Rebecca Keltie and Gretchen Rydin, and Senators Lisa Frizell and Janice Marchman, raises the age at which a child can voluntarily relinquish their rights.

Additionally, the governor approved HB26-1039 which adds municipal jails to county jail oversight requirements. This bill was sponsored by Representative Michael Carter and Naquetta Ricks, and Senators Iman Jodeh and Mike Weissman.
Two more bills were signed into law today - HB26-1089 which establishes a uniform mortgage modification act sponsored by Representative Cecelia Espenoza and Senator Marc Snyder; and HB26-1134 which promotes fairness and transparency in municipal courts. This legislation was sponsored by Representatives Javier Mabrey and Elizabeth Velasco, as well as Senators Judy Amabile and Mike Weissman.
These new laws are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of Colorado residents. Governor Polis expressed his gratitude to all those involved in making these bills a reality.
