Colorado Springs: Accessible outdoor adventures return with expanded 2026 Trackchair season
TelAve News/10896194
~ Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department has announced the opening of free reservations for the 2026 Trackchair Program. This program aims to provide individuals with mobility challenges the opportunity to explore local parks and open spaces using all-terrain Trackchairs.
After a successful 2025 season, the program is expanding in 2026 to offer two guided hikes daily, Wednesday through Sunday. These hikes will take place at various locations throughout the season, including Ute Valley Park, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Blodgett Open Space, and Bluestem Prairie Open Space. Guided hikes will be available from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
According to Skyler Rorabaugh, PRCS Director, "We are thrilled to bring the Trackchair Program back for another season and continue creating opportunities for everyone to experience the beauty of Colorado Springs' parks and open spaces." Rorabaugh also noted that the response from participants and families last year showed just how meaningful access to the outdoors can be.

The Trackchairs used in this program are battery-powered and designed with a low center of gravity and extended battery life. This allows users to comfortably navigate trails and uneven terrain. Each hike is guided by PRCS staff who provide trail information throughout the experience.
The program is a collaborative effort between the Recreation Services and Regional Parks, Trails and Open Space Divisions. Together, they aim to reduce barriers and create more inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities across the city. The Trackchairs were made possible through funding from the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Equity Grant, the Colorado Springs Office of Accessibility, and a private donation from Max Delgado.
Reservations for this unique experience are free and can be made now on ColoradoSprings.gov/Trackchair. For more information about the program, interested individuals can also visit the website. Don't miss this chance to explore the beauty of Colorado Springs' parks and open spaces with the Trackchair Program.
