Colorado Springs: Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax grant application open through May 22
TelAve News/10894145
~ The City of Colorado Springs has announced that they are now accepting applications for the 2027 Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) Grant Program. This program aims to support events and projects that bring visitors to the community and generate local economic impact.
According to city officials, LART funding plays a crucial role in encouraging tourist activity and providing economic and cultural benefits by attracting visitors to Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply and review all application materials before the deadline on Friday, May 22.
In an effort to make the application process more convenient for applicants, this year's application process will be fully online. Interested parties can find a full overview of key dates, deadlines, and application details on the city's website at ColoradoSprings.gov/LARTGrants.

To help prospective applicants better understand the process and ask any questions they may have, the City will be hosting two public information sessions at City Hall on Thursday, April 30 at 2 p.m. and Thursday, May 14 at 4:30 p.m. During these sessions, staff will provide an overview of the program, go through application requirements, and highlight any updates for this year's cycle.
To ensure a fair review process, the City has partnered with five tourism-sector organizations who will evaluate applications within their areas of expertise. These partners will use standardized criteria to score applications, with final recommendations being reviewed by the LART Citizens' Advisory Committee before being approved by City Council.
Funding for the LART Grant Program is generated through a tax paid by visitors when they stay at local hotels or rent cars in Colorado Springs. This money is then reinvested back into the community to support events and projects that bring in more visitors and boost the local economy. Interested organizations are encouraged to apply before May 22 for a chance to receive funding from this program.
