Columbia: Closure of Rollins Street west of South College Avenue, May 18-June 5

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - Ameren Missouri has announced that they will be replacing a six-inch gas main under Rollins Street, just west of its intersection with South College Avenue. The project is set to begin on Monday, May 18 and will require the closure of Rollins Street during construction.

According to Ameren Missouri, the excavation across Rollins Street is necessary to install the new gas main. As a result, the crosswalk on the west side of South College Avenue will also be closed during construction. Pedestrians are advised to use the crosswalk on the east side of the intersection and all other sidewalks in the area will remain open.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, detour signs will be posted to direct drivers around the closure. This project is part of Ameren Missouri's East Campus Gas Main project, which aims to upgrade natural gas infrastructure in the East Campus neighborhood by fall 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly during this time.
