Columbia: SAVE-A-LIFE: naloxone education and distribution event hosted at Reentry Opportunity Center

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ COLUMBIA, MO - The Reentry Opportunity Center (ROC) is teaming up with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition (BCORC) and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) to host a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Tuesday, March 12. The event will take place from 12-1 p.m. at the ROC located at 1621 Towne Drive.
SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly event that aims to educate and raise awareness about opioid overdose deaths and how to prevent them through the use of naloxone nasal spray, also known as Narcan®. This life-saving drug can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
The event will be part of the ROC Recovery Resources Fair, which will also feature resources for recovery and reentry, employment opportunities, trade opportunities, networking, and free food and drinks. The fair will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to receive information and brief training from PHHS staff on recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose and how to use and access naloxone. Both formal presentations and informal training will be available.
