During this process, customers may experience cloudiness or discoloration in their water. The sediment causing this is calcium bicarbonate, also known as lime, which is commonly used as a water softener. The City assures residents that this sediment is not harmful to consume and poses no health hazard. However, if discoloration persists for more than a few hours, customers are encouraged to report their concerns by calling 573.874.CITY (2489) and Water Utility staff will promptly respond.

The City of Columbia Water Utility is committed to providing safe and clean drinking water for its residents and appreciates their patience during this necessary maintenance project.
