(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs is proud to present the fifth annual Make Music Columbia on Sunday, June 21. This day-long event offers a diverse range of free musical performances for all to enjoy.

Unlike traditional music festivals, Make Music Day is open to anyone who wants to participate. Musicians of all ages, skill levels, and musical styles were encouraged to register during the sign-up period, which ended on June 16. Various local venues have also signed up to host performers. All events are free and open to the public.

Make Music Columbia is part of the global celebration known as Make Music Day, which takes place every year on the summer solstice. This event brings people together from around the world to make music regardless of their age or skill level. Originating in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day has now spread to over 1,000 cities in 120 countries. This year alone, more than 150 cities in the United States will join in on this worldwide celebration by hosting thousands of performances.

The community is invited to come out and enjoy musical performances throughout Columbia all day long.
