VIJAYAWADA, India - TelAve -- In a significant bipartisan effort aimed at accelerating state development, senior Indian National Congress leader GV Sriraj met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today at his residence for a high-level 28-minute one-to-one strategic session.

During the meeting, Sriraj submitted a comprehensive proposal advocating for the immediate establishment of Inland Dry Ports and Multi-Modal Logistics Parks across interior districts to complement Andhra Pradesh's vast 974 km coastline and expanding deep-water maritime assets.

​Sri Raj emphasized that while the state continues to strengthen major coastal gateways including Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam, and Krishnapatnam, coastal infrastructure alone cannot drive balanced regional growth without direct integration into the inland economy.

Establishing strategically located dry ports effectively moves customs clearances, container inspections, and bonded warehousing into the hinterland. This shift drastically reduces quay congestion at deep-water berths, accelerates vessel turnaround times, and lowers overall freight costs for local agricultural producers, textile exporters, and small industries by shifting long-haul transit from congested highways to direct freight rail corridors.

By capturing trade from landlocked interior regions as well as neighboring states like Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, inland dry ports transform Andhra Pradesh into the preeminent maritime gateway for South and Central India while distributing industrial employment and infrastructure investment evenly across non-coastal districts.

​The Chief Minister received the memorandum and acknowledged the strategic necessity of connecting inland logistics hubs directly with deep-water ports to unlock the full economic potential of the state.
