CONTACT Promotes Connection This Mental Health Awareness Month

TelAve News/10895349
TOMS RIVER, N.J. - TelAve -- In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, CONTACT of Ocean & Monmouth Counties is joining the national conversation around mental wellness by embracing this year's theme, "More Good Days, Together." The campaign highlights the importance of connection, community, and access to support in helping individuals navigate life's challenges.

For more than 50 years, CONTACT has provided free, confidential crisis intervention, emotional support, and community resource referrals to residents of Ocean and Monmouth Counties 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Mental Health Awareness Month serves as an important reminder that mental wellness is not just about responding in times of crisis—it is about creating space for conversation, reducing stigma, and ensuring individuals know support is available before challenges become overwhelming.

"Our mission is grounded in the belief that reaching out for help is the first step toward healing," emphasized Kim Santora, Executive Director of CONTACT. "We want everyone to know that they don't have to navigate their challenges alone." Through compassionate, nonjudgmental listening, CONTACT's trained telephone listeners provide callers with a safe space to feel heard, understood, and supported.

Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed, isolated, anxious, or simply in need of a listening ear, CONTACT reminds the community that reaching out for support is a sign of strength and making a human connection matters.

In addition to Mental Health Awareness Month, May marks Older Americans Month. CONTACT highlights its CONTACT Cares Reassurance Calling Program for seniors in Ocean County. The program offers regular check-in calls that provide both meaningful conversation and an added layer of reassurance. If a call goes unanswered, a designated contact is notified to ensure safety. By creating consistent moments of connection, the program helps reduce isolation and supports overall well-being, further amplifying mental health awareness.

CONTACT's hotline is available 24/7 to anyone in need of emotional support, crisis intervention, or assistance connecting with local resources.

At its core, mental health awareness is about making space for connection and understanding. CONTACT remains dedicated to being there when it matters most, reminding the community that support is always available and every voice deserves to be heard.
