Cuesta College Central Coast Writers' Conference Announces Scholarship Contests, Teen Program, and Vendor Opportunities

New memorial scholarships for writers battling or recovering from a serious illness introduced along with a new Teen Writing program and vendor opportunities. The conference will be held Sept. 26 and 27, 2025 in San Luis Obispo, California.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - TelAve -- The 41st Annual Cuesta College Central Coast Writers' Conference (CCWC) returns on Sept. 26-27 with workshops, keynote speakers, and a new teen program. The 2025 theme, "It's Time!" aims to inspire writers of all experience levels.
Thanks to generous sponsors, the conference is offering new scholarship opportunities and writing contests to cover registration fees, including one for individuals experiencing or recovering from serious illness.
Anna Unkovich, Paul Alan Fahey, and Linna Thomas Memorial Scholarships: These scholarships support individuals battling or recovering from illness who embody resilience and a love for the written word. To apply, submit a story or poem of 800 words or less using the prompt: "It's Time!" Six scholarships will be awarded based on need and authentic voice. The application deadline is Sept. 10. Details are available at centralcoastwritersconference.com.

Teen Writing Program "Dream It, Draw It, Draft It": This program takes place Friday, Sept. 26 from 3-6 p.m. Teens will learn writing fundamentals through storytelling, illustration, and writing time. They will be mentored by award-winning author Laurie Woodward and special guest illustrator Stephanie Roth Sisson. Students can return Saturday for more than 30 workshops. The cost is $75 and includes pizza and snacks. Register your teen at CCWC Teen Program. Limited scholarships are available.
"Offering scholarships helps to open doors for talented individuals who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend," said CCWC Director Meagan Friberg. "Our goal is to nurture fresh perspectives, foster inclusivity, and ensure the brightest ideas are heard, no matter someone's financial background. This year, we are especially honored to extend support to those who are battling or recovering from illness while recognizing the strength, resilience, and insight they bring to our community."
