Driftwood Wine & Cocktails Seeks New Owner in Downtown Brunswick
TelAve News/10906475
BRUNSWICK, Ga. - TelAve -- Driftwood Wine & Cocktails, the downtown Brunswick wine and cocktail lounge was founded as a venue for events, entertainment, and community connections. Owner Sunshine Unterwagner recently made the decision to sell the enterprise after determining that it is time for her to step away. The business is currently listed for sale at an asking price of $206,000.
"The decision was not made because I stopped believing in Driftwood," Unterwagner said. "It was made because I have reached a point in my personal and professional life where I need to identify a new owner with strong resources, experience, and energy to take the food and beverage location into its next chapter."
Driftwood opened on July 2, 2025, with a business model focused on creating a relaxed alternative within downtown Brunswick's hospitality district. Unterwagner, a registered nurse, developed the concept after seeing how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the way people gathered and connected. Her goal was to create a space where adults could enjoy wine and cocktails along with a light menu while having conversations, attending events, and spending time together in an environment designed to feel welcoming and comfortable.

The concept grew into more than a traditional bar. Driftwood hosted wine tastings, trivia, karaoke, live entertainment, private parties, themed evenings, creative workshops, and additional occasions. "I have poured an enormous amount of thought, creativity, work, and heart into Driftwood," Unterwagner said. "It has never been merely four walls and a bar to me. It represented a vision, a recognizable local presence, and an organization that the next owner could carry forward and grow."
According to Unterwagner, the sale includes an established concept and furnished hospitality site with seating for approximately 40 to 50 guests. The space is ADA accessible and includes a large screen television and Sonos sound system. The business has operational systems, vendor relationships, marketing materials, and event packages in place. Driftwood's local customer base and recognized name supports a variety of curated wine, cocktail and food menus. The business was also developed to accommodate private parties, business meetings, tastings, workshops, social clubs, and ticketed events.

Unterwagner believes the fundamentals could make the business particularly attractive to an existing restaurant or hospitality operator looking to expand in downtown Brunswick. "Rather than starting a brand new concept entirely from the ground up, an experienced operator could build upon Driftwood's existing foundation," Unterwagner said.
Unterwagner added, the location could also provide revenue opportunities to cross-promote with local and out of town businesses, share staff and resources, provide rental event operations, among others.
Driftwood is currently closed while Unterwagner seeks a buyer. Information about the business, equipment, included assets, operations and finances is available to qualified prospective buyers with a confidentiality agreement. Contact Sunshine Unterwagner at 540-871-6234 (tel:(540)%20871-6234) or sunshine@driftwoodwineandcocktails.com.
