Everytable and Homeboy Industries Amplify Social Impact with Bold Collaboration for Summer '19
TelAve News/10584064
$1 from each Homegirl Salmon Adobo bowl sold will benefit Homeboy Industries
LOS ANGELES - TelAve -- The Everytable culinary team and the women of Homegirl Café, a division of Homeboy Industries, have collaborated for the first time to introduce the new Homegirl Salmon Adobo bowl.
Available starting May 30 across all Everytable grab and go restaurants and SmartFridge locations, the bright and bold Homegirl Salmon Adobo features a filet of adobo spiced salmon on a bed of roasted cauliflower rice and chili lime chickpeas - garnished with habanero pickled onions, fresh cilantro and a side of Homegirl Café salsa verde. One dollar from every Homegirl Salmon Adobo bowl sold in June will be donated back to Homeboy Industries.
While this is the first collaboration between Everytable and Homeboy Industries, the two organizations have a deep, long-lasting connection. Homeboy Industries' founder, Father Greg Boyle, has served as a mentor and a tremendous inspiration for Sam Polk, the founder and CEO of Everytable. For more than 30 years, Homeboy Industries has helped formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women redirect their lives to become contributing members of the community. Father Greg's heart and counsel have very much shaped the mission and values of Everytable.
"My friendship with Father Greg served as a catalyst for our business. If I had never met Father Greg, and discovered his heart-led approach to business, Everytable would not exist today." Read more about how Father Greg and Homeboy Industries inspired the creation of Everytable in this letter from Sam Polk.

As Everytable works to bring fresh, healthy food to underserved communities known as food deserts, the company hopes to also raise awareness about Homeboy Industries in these same neighborhoods. Everytable aims to shine a spotlight on the life skills, confidence and second chances that Homeboy Industries offers to men and women like Mariana.
Now a Chef at Homegirl Café, Mariana, arrived at Homeboy Industries in 2008 as a teenage mother. She'd grown up in a broken home, one filled with traumatic experiences, she had no mentors and suffered through repeated exposure to violence. She had served time in prison and needed a pathway for her reentry. She made the decision she didn't want to be a statistic and so decided to take advantage of the Homeboy community and programs, where she found a safe place to work shifting her perspective and changing her life. Mariana fell in love with cooking at Homegirl Café, received training as a server and ultimately found her place as a leader in the kitchen. She takes pride in her work and leads with purpose. The recipe for the Salmon Adobo bowl at Everytable was inspired by Mariana and the brave woman of Homegirl Café.
"The ingredients in the Salmon Adobo bowl best represent my personality - bold and colorful," said Mariana. That personality has begun to shine through in the context of Homeboy's community support. "Homeboy means acceptance no matter what – if you want it."
About Everytable
Founded in 2015, Everytable is on a mission to transform the food system by bringing healthy, affordable meals to all communities. The social enterprise uses a market-driven approach to address food deserts and food insecurity among low-income neighborhoods and college campuses. Made from scratch meals, like the popular Trap Kitchen Curry Chicken, Puebla Chicken Tinga and Kale Caesar Salad are priced according to the communities where they are sold. In South LA and Compton, meals cost $5 to $7; in more affluent areas, the same meals cost $8 to $9. To keep prices low, all meals are produced in a central kitchen and then made accessible through an innovative multichannel distribution system, including: grab and go store fronts, SmartFridges placed in office buildings and direct to customer delivery through a subscription program. The disruptive, mission-driven business model has gained national attention and investments from food-forward investors like Kimbal Musk, Maria Shriver, Gwyneth Paltrow, Acumen, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and TOMS Social Enterprise fund.
