Florida: Governor Ron DeSantis Receives Eighty-Four Bills

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Governor Ron DeSantis has received a total of 97 bills today, covering a wide range of topics from healthcare to environmental protection. The Governor now has until July 3, 2025 to act on these bills.

Among the bills received are CS/CS/SB 312, which establishes the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, Inc., and SB 892, which creates the Florida State University Election Law Center. These bills aim to promote research and education in their respective fields.

In addition, CS/CS/CS/SB 1070 requires student athletes to undergo electrocardiogram testing before participating in sports activities. This bill aims to prevent sudden cardiac arrest among young athletes.

Another important bill received by the Governor is CS/SB 1622, which addresses beach management and preservation. This bill aims to protect Florida's beaches and ensure their sustainability for future generations.

The Governor also received CS/CS/SB 1574, which promotes investment in energy infrastructure, and CS/CS/SB 56, which regulates weather modification activities in the state.

In terms of land development, the Governor received CS/CS/SB 492 which focuses on mitigation banking and CS/SB 1080 which addresses local government land regulation.

Other notable bills include SB 7018 which requires parental consent before terminating a pregnancy for minors and SB 130 which provides compensation for victims of wrongful incarceration.

The Governor also received several bills related to healthcare such as CS/CS/HB 1421 which aims to improve screening and treatment for blood clots and HB 827 which calls for a statewide study on automation and its impact on the workforce.

In terms of environmental protection, the Governor received HB 1143 which regulates permits for drilling and extraction of oil and gas resources. He also received HB 11 which addresses municipal water and sewer utility rates.

The Governor also received several bills related to public safety, including CS/CS/CS/HB 1371 which provides benefits for law enforcement officers and other personnel, and CS/CS/HB 181 which addresses parole.

In addition, the Governor received a number of bills related to local government and development, such as HB 4021 which focuses on the North River Ranch Improvement Stewardship District in Manatee County and CS/HB 4043 which addresses development in Osceola County.
