the Andersen brothers (Kent & Adam) win the first-ever NXT Pro Guide Batteries Series aboard a Warrior V2090, with multiple V2090s in the top five.

MELROSE, Minn. - TelAve -- Lake Mille Lacs hosted the first ever NXT Pro Guide Batteries Series event on June 11 and 12, and Warrior Boats was right in the middle of it. Warrior was a sponsor of the two day showdown, then went out and won it on home water.

Kent Andersen and his brother Adam Andersen took the title with 74.47 pounds and a $15,000 check. The event paid out $50,000 in total to some of the best walleye teams in the country.

Here is how the top five finished:
  1. Kent Andersen and Adam Andersen, 74.47 pounds, $15,000
  2. Taylor Patnode and Scott Hansen, 73.52 pounds, $8,000
  3. Isaac Lakich and Tristan Beckwith, 72.37 pounds, $6,500
  4. Jesse Longtin and Mike Nelson, 72.10 pounds, $5,500
  5. Joe Peters and Jim Carpenter, 70.98 pounds, $4,500

The leaderboard told the Warrior story. Kent and Adam won aboard a Warrior V2090, and they had plenty of company. Two more V2090s placed in the top five, and several others ran inside the top ten.

There is a reason the V2090 keeps winning right now. Forward facing sonar changed how walleye get caught. Anglers watch fish in real time and drop a bait right on their nose. That game comes down to boat control, and that is exactly what the V2090 was built for. Simple and deadly.

The V2090 has long been the king of tillers. Now it is proving to be the king of forward facing sonar fishing too. The boat was first designed as a back trolling machine with precise boat control. That same control carries forward today and gives operators the upper hand when they target fish with forward facing sonar.

Winning the first ever NXT right here on Mille Lacs meant a lot to the Andersens. This is where they cut their teeth tournament fishing with their father, the late David Andersen, a former owner of Warrior Boats. Today Kent handles national sales for the brand his family helped build.

"The fish were biting all over the lake and it came down to good decisions. The V2090 kept us on them and kept us in total control all day. That control is everything when you are watching fish on the screen," said Kent Andersen, national sales representative for Warrior Boats.

For the crew in Melrose, watching their own boats run the top of the board on home water never gets old. Fishermen building boats for fishermen. Then going out and proving it.
