Georgia Foster Children to Receive "Fostering the Future Accounts"
TelAve News/10898478
ATLANTA ~ In a groundbreaking move, Georgia has become one of the first states in the nation to ensure that eligible foster children have access to tax-advantaged investment accounts, known as "Trump Accounts." This measure, part of First Lady Melania Trump's initiative to launch "Fostering the Future Accounts," aims to provide a stronger financial foundation for thousands of foster children in state care.
Governor Brian Kemp expressed his support for this new development, stating that every child in Georgia deserves equal opportunities and the ability to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. He also thanked President Trump and his team for making this possible.
Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, U.S. children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 are eligible to receive $1,000 from the U.S. Treasury into a Trump Account. Foster children born during this timeframe in Georgia will automatically be enrolled to receive this seed funding. These accounts will track a stock index and can be accessed when the child turns eighteen.
The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) will work closely with federal officials, caregivers, and community partners to ensure that these tax-advantaged accounts are protected and utilized effectively for children while they are in the system.

First Lady Marty Kemp emphasized the importance of providing foster children with a secure future as they age out of the system. She stated that these accounts will help them confidently step into adulthood and build successful lives.
The creation of these accounts was first announced by President Trump in 2025 as a means of providing tax-deferred investment assets for newborns. For more information on these accounts, individuals can visit https://trumpaccounts.gov/.
Georgia Department of Human Services Commissioner and DFCS Director Candice Broce expressed her excitement about this opportunity to improve the financial success of foster children in Georgia. She also praised First Lady Marty Kemp for her advocacy and thanked President and Mrs. Trump for their work on this issue. Broce stated that this partnership with the administration will greatly enhance the support provided to foster children, both during their time in state care and into their adult lives.
This new development in Georgia is a significant step towards ensuring that foster children have access to the same financial opportunities as their peers. With the support of state and federal officials, caregivers, and community partners, these "Trump Accounts" have the potential to positively impact the lives of thousands of foster children in Georgia.
