Georgia: Gov. Kemp: Heckler & Koch Expands US Operations in Columbus

ATLANTA ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Brian P. Kemp revealed that HK USA, a German-based company, will be investing $13 million to expand its Columbus-Muscogee County facility. This expansion is expected to create an additional 35 jobs for the local community.

Governor Kemp expressed his gratitude for the company's continued investment in Georgia and its contribution to the state's economy. He stated, "HK USA has been supporting quality jobs for Georgians for more than two decades, and we are grateful to see this relationship continue to benefit the Columbus community." He also highlighted Georgia's appeal as a top destination for various industries due to its world-class logistics network, pro-business environment, and talented workforce.

Heckler & Koch (HK) established its HK USA operations in Georgia in 2005 and currently employs approximately 115 people in Columbus. The company's CEO, Michael Holley, credited their success to the dedication of their Georgia-based team and the support of various workforce partners such as Georgia Quick Start, the Technical College System of Georgia, and the Choose Columbus retention program. He also emphasized their alignment with Georgia's defense and sporting community and their participation in the Georgia Made® program.

Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Governor Kemp's office, the Georgia General Assembly, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), and Choose Columbus in making this expansion possible. He stated, "HK USA has been a great community partner, and we are thrilled that they have chosen to further invest and grow in Columbus."

Chairman Selvin Hollingsworth of the Development Authority of Columbus also praised HK USA for their partnership with the local community and their commitment to creating high-quality manufacturing jobs. He said, "This expansion is a strong signal that Columbus continues to be a place where businesses can grow and succeed."

The GDEcD, represented by Senior Regional Project Manager Christy Bozeman, worked closely with Choose Columbus and Georgia Power to facilitate this project. GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson highlighted HK USA's success in establishing strong partnerships with local technical colleges and becoming Georgia Made® certified. He stated, "HK USA has established itself as a high-quality job creator and key industry in west Georgia's economic landscape. We look forward to continuing to work with the company and community for more decades to come."
