ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - TelAve -- Former St. Pete Councilmen Charlie Gerdes and Ed Montanari announced today they are endorsing Trevor Mallory for St. Petersburg City Council. They are joined by Senator Darryl Rouson, businessman Pete Boland, former opponent Terri Balliet, and former NAACP President Maria Scruggs.

Former Councilman Charlie Gerdes represented District 1 until 2020, and he was impressed by the work Mallory has already done in St. Petersburg on housing affordability. "I will be voting for Trevor Mallory to be the next City Councilman for District 6 because Trevor is a community leader on affordable housing and access to home ownership," said Gerdes. "Trevor Mallory is the best choice for St. Petersburg's future success."

Montanari, who represented District 3 on the City Council until 2024, emphasized Mallory's grit and positive attitude. "Trevor brings the boundless energy, optimism, and determination to move our city forward," said Montanari. "He believes, as I do, that St. Petersburg's brightest days are still ahead and he is ready to work every day to help us reach them. In the District 6 race for City Council, I'm proud to support Trevor Mallory."

Senator Darryl Rouson, whose district overlaps Mallory's City Council District 6, laid out Mallory's range of service, from housing affordability to youth mentorship. "Trevor Mallory has served St Petersburg by creating affordable homes, by helping our neighbors achieve home ownership, through civic service, and by mentoring our youth," said Rouson. "I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish for us on city council."

Also endorsing today are Pete Boland, Maria Scruggs, and Mallory's former opponent, Terri Balliet. With Balliet's endorsement, Mallory now has support from the entire 5-candidate primary field, except for his current opponent, Linsey Grove. Former candidates Jameka Williams and Doug Homeyer endorsed Mallory last week. Combined, their supporters represent a broad cross-section of the St. Petersburg electorate. Between them, Balliet, Homeyer, and Williams earned 49% of the vote in the August primary election.

Today's endorsements add to the support Mallory has already earned from dozens of other community leaders. Mallory's endorsements include former Mayor Rick Kriseman, his former opponents, Jameka Williams and Doug Homeyer, St. Petersburg Councilwoman Gina Driscoll, former Councilman Frank Peterman, former Councilman Karl Nurse, and former Councilman Jim Kennedy, and County Commissioner Rene Flowers. The Tampa Bay Times writes "Mallory stands out as the clear choice" in District 6.

Current Councilwoman Gina Driscoll has served the residents of District 6 since she was first elected in 2017, and is now term limited. The general election on November 3, 2026 is open to all St. Petersburg voters.
