TelAve News/10891631
ATLANTA ~ In a major announcement today, Governor Brian P. Kemp revealed that global biopharmaceutical company UCB, Inc. will be investing $2 billion in Georgia to establish its first U.S. pharmaceutical biologics manufacturing facility. This investment is expected to create 330 new jobs over the next few years at the Rowen Foundation's state-of-the-art science and learning campus in Gwinnett County.
Governor Kemp expressed his excitement about this partnership with UCB, stating, "When we met with UCB leadership earlier this year in Belgium, we discussed how the Peach State would be the right partner for their visionary plans in the U.S. that will benefit both patients and hardworking Georgians." He also noted that this investment is a significant milestone for Georgia's life sciences industry and solidifies the state as a hub of innovation.
UCB, headquartered in Belgium, currently has its North American headquarters in Smyrna and employs over 400 people. The company specializes in neurology and immunology.

UCB's CEO Jean-Christophe Tellier shared his confidence in the company's long-term growth and commitment to the United States, saying, "By investing in Georgia, where our U.S. headquarters have been based for more than three decades, we are strengthening our biologics manufacturing capabilities, supporting our innovation pipeline, and creating high-quality jobs." He also mentioned that this project is expected to generate approximately $5 billion in total economic impact for the region.
The new manufacturing facility will be located at Rowen, a planned community spanning 2,000 acres in metro Atlanta designed to foster collaboration and innovation. The campus will utilize cutting-edge technology such as AI, robotics, and automation while prioritizing efficiency and sustainability.
Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson expressed her excitement about UCB's decision to invest in Gwinnett County. She stated that this investment aligns with the county's vision for Rowen as a hub for collaboration and discovery. She also highlighted Gwinnett's diverse and skilled talent pool, which she believes will be a valuable asset to UCB.
